Description

Experience the calm, rewarding journey across Shikoku with Tokaido Duo — a standalone 1–2 player follow‑up to Tokaido that sends three characters (Pilgrim, Merchant, Artist) wandering the island in search of points, stories and serene vistas.

Available at Mind Games — proudly Australia’s oldest and best games store since 1977.

Bold facts

  • Players: 1–2 (with Automa solo mode included)
  • Play time: 20+ minutes
  • Ages: 8+
  • Theme: Travel — discover the sights and culture of Shikoku
  • Mechanics & features: Action drafting, roll/draft & move, track movement, quick dice draft each turn, end‑goal jobs for each character

What Tokaido Duo plays like

  • You control three characters simultaneously:
    • Pilgrim: Visit temples, gardens, seashores and hot springs for spiritual progress.
    • Merchant: Collect and sell handcrafted wares to earn coin and points.
    • Artist: Paint scenic vistas and gift them to locals to score.
  • Each turn players perform a quick dice draft to steer the three characters along separate tracks around Shikoku — pace matters, and choices create a threefold journey of strategy and story.
  • Earn points by completing each character’s jobs while balancing movement, resources and timing. The game is a peaceful race that rewards planning and tactical drafting more than aggression.

Why players love it

  • A compact, elegant two‑player experience inspired by Tokaido but with brand‑new mechanisms and fresh strategic decisions.
  • Great solo offering: an Automa mode is included (and also available separately), providing a strong single‑player challenge.
  • Accessible rules and short playtime make it perfect for family play, date nights, or lovers of contemplative Euro‑style games.
