Description
CULLS
A quick, portable abstract strategy game of traps, flips and cunning placement — simple to learn, rich in tactical depth.
Players: 2 | Time: 20 Minutes | Ages: 10+
What it is:
- A classic five-in-a-row contest (also published as Bollox, Bolix and Bōku) where clever chip placement and timely culls turn the tide.
- Small, travel‑friendly and ideal for on‑the‑go duels or café play.
How to play (quick summary):
- Goal: be the first to get five of your chips in a row.
- Setup: players alternate placing two lobster‑side down chips each, then continue placing one chip per turn.
- Capture mechanic: if your placement “sandwiches” exactly two opponent chips, flip one of them lobster‑side up.
- Culling: when it’s a player’s turn and they have a lobster‑side up chip, their entire turn is to pick that chip up and place it elsewhere lobster‑side down.
- Play continues with placement, flips and culls until someone lines up five in a row.
Why you’ll love it:
- Deceptively simple rules, deep tactical play
- Fast rounds and dramatic reversals
- Perfect for travel and quick head‑to‑head sessions
