Description
Moa
2–5 players | Ages 10+ | 45–60 minutes
Moa reframes the settlement of New Zealand as an island struggle between native giant birds (moa, kakapo) and invading mammals (dogs, rats, possums, weasels). Players represent the bird defenders, competing to control regions while resisting mammal incursions — but you may also choose to bargain and sell land to the settlers instead of fighting. The game blends area control, tense negotiation and shifting priorities as you balance defence, expansion and opportunism. Includes a two‑player variant in the rulebook and draws on designer Martin Wallace’s experiences in Aotearoa for thematic flavour.
