Description

Night Soil is a competitive strategy game where players run rival night soil companies, cleaning the streets of Tudor London under cover of darkness while striving to make the greatest profit. Designed for 2–5 players aged 14 and up, each game plays in around 60 minutes and blends tactical movement, resource management, and clever timing.

By night, players use Labourer cards to carefully manoeuvre waste cubes through London’s narrow streets, collecting income and recruiting new workers along the way. By day, those workers are deployed across the city to advertise the company, gain favour with local businesses, or improve company assets. Of course, sending workers into the streets has consequences, as growing crowds only add to London’s ever-present waste problem. Players must balance efficiency, influence, and expansion while managing turn order, variable player powers, and victory points as a valuable resource.

Set during the Renaissance, Night Soil features gameplay elements including area majority and influence, area movement, deck, bag, and pool building, income generation, pick-up and delivery, and a claim-action turn structure. Victory goes to the company that best navigates the grime, politics, and profits of Tudor London.

The game includes a central game board, 55 player tokens, 75 coin tokens, 33 Labourer cards, 50 Night Soil cubes, 16 pawns, 6 favour tiles, and a round tracker.
