Nippon: Zaibatsu is the reimagined and updated 10th Anniversary edition of Nippon—a fast-paced area majority economic game focused on the massive conglomerates driving Japan’s economy during the Industrial Revolution era.

In this engaging game, players will invest in new industries, build factories and railroads, and produce goods to saturate local markets while fulfilling contracts—all in an effort to grow their influence and power to become rulers of a modernized Japan. Players have the freedom to choose their playstyle and winning strategies, deciding what to score victory points for, controlling the game’s pace through income turns, and competing for the most advantageous factories, markets, and bonuses.

The core mechanisms of the original Nippon remain intact, but the components, art, and overall design have been significantly upgraded. Many gameplay features have been reworked to align with modern gaming trends. Nippon: Zaibatsu introduces new resource types, includes heavily revised ships with updated Iwakura mission rules, offers more variability in factories, and introduces consolidation turns that reward players with new benefits. Additionally, the game now features an automa-driven solo mode, enhancing its versatility.
